First off, every other developed country can get the job done. Better yet they have never gone broke. Even better almost all are generally satisfied and the issues are mostly for the exceptional situations often not handled any better here.
What a universal system cannot do is provide an insurance industry monopoly profits added on to the whole package, particularly when admin charges are also gamed. That is what they are fighting for. They lost everywhere else.
